Name the Mask
You cannot heal what you will not honestly name.
The mask is not your sin — it is your survival. Somewhere along the way you learned that being the real, honest, feeling you was not safe. So you built a version of yourself that could keep the peace, hold the room together, and make everyone believe you were fine.
The first step to freedom is not fixing yourself. It is simply telling the truth — to yourself and to God — about how tired you really are. The mask loses its power the moment you stop pretending it is the real you.
God is not surprised by what is underneath. He has been waiting there the whole time. He is not asking you to have it together — He is asking you to let Him see the you that doesn't.
"You desire truth in the inward being; teach me wisdom in the secret heart."
Psalm 51:6
